" A great beach on a private resort that is still accessible for the locals(I am glad that the locals are not barred from their own country's beach).

I only took one picture but have a chat with local, a nice lady in a shop that sells t-shirt and other items for tourists, a man(Blaze is the name) that sells fresh fruit smoothies near the same shop. Had a talk with both and they were happy to share their local history of the beach.

Yes its a beach but this is a beach in the West Indies or Caribbean, whatever you prefer to call it, but its a great beach! "

" Just Amazing! The service is warm and welcoming, the setting is sensational, and the rooms are second to none. The rooms are private villas with a plunge pool, the food in all 3 restaurants are definitely the best in service and in food. Being between the two Petons looming above and being right next to the beach, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The taxi service is quick and reliable and all the drivers and private butlers are kind and caring and are willing to do anything to make your stay better. Really is truly the best! "

" I'm writing this review as someone who didn't stay here. We just went to the beach as visitors and snorkeled and had some drinks and snacks. It costs $10 to park your car right outside the gate, otherwise you need to get a taxi or water taxi there. You can also pay $50 per person to park halfway down and take a shuttle the rest of the way, and get a $50 voucher that can be used toward food or drinks. The food and drinks are excellent. Also excellent is the snorkelling. We saw cuttlefish! "

" This is not a comment directly about the hotel itself as we didn't stay there, but about the beach. The beach is beautiful and in a wonderful setting. The Sugar Beach Hotel has however commandeered 80% of the beach, leaving locals and independent travellers the option of forking out $50 US per head to use their sunbeds for the day, or huddle like sardines on the 20% of beach that hasn't been commandeered by the hotel. The hotel also controls access to the beach by road, so unless you pay a $50 access fee, the only way to get to the miserly bit of public beach is by an expensive water taxi. "

" Straight up the most beautiful resort I have ever been to. Impeccable service, gorgeous rooms and my son is still asking for the tuck tuck to take him to breakfast. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all then this is your place. "

" Wait staff focused on making money rather than ensuring enjoyment, though hard not to enjoy such a beautiful place with great snorkeling and boating. Upkeep has kept this location changing owners every couple of years, and it shows. Overpriced drinks. Local vendors selling silly wares and offering weed, despite seeming to be a private resort. Tourists from other resorts are allowed on premise too, but generally stay close to the on-site snorkeling. "

" The most luxurious place we stayed on the island. It's pricey but I'd say it's worth it. Service is excellent and so are the rooms. Each one comes with a jacuzzi or pool. You'll also get your own butler. The beach is amazing. Great snorkeling right by the shore, so there's no need to do the kayak excursion. Only complaint is that I'd expect a place like this to be adults only, or at least limited to children 12 years old and above. There were a couple of badly behaved kids at the resort while we were there and it ruins the vibe a little. More the parents' fault than anything and for this reason I prefer adults only hotels, especially at this price point. "

" The hotel is built on a steep hill and is designed to give you a sense of seclusion. Which is means that no one has to see your reaction to the jaw dropping views. Don't worry about walking about in the heat there is a driver service to help you get around. The beach is a bay between two mountains so the water is very still and clear. Thats good as the snorkeling is fantastic and comes right to the beach. You can hire snorkel gear if you don't have any. The food, while understandably expensive, is gorgeous. The staff are amazing as well.

The only negitive is the the roads to get there are steep and twisty. I would recommend car sickness tablets and to hire a taxi rather than trying to drive yourself. "

" My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at Sugar Beach. I had to write a review right away on how amazing this place is. Truly PARADISE if you every imagined it.

We had an ocean view villa with a private pool. Upon arrival, we met with our own personal butler who greets you and gives you a tour of the villa. There was fresh fruit, local rum and plantains waiting for us. The villa in itself is so beautiful, it's like a home away from home. Double shower heads and a nice soaking tub as well as living room and king size bed with netting. Our own private infinity pool was nice to relax in and take in the views of the Pitons.

We chose to do the all inclusive plan and we highly recommend it. There are so many options to choose from and all of the food is outstanding. My husband especially loved the Cane bar (sushi) and I loved the Great Room (fine dining). The fish was so fresh and delicious that I ate it every day.

The beach is so perfect with personal covered cabana like huts and many padded lounge chairs. The beach itself is white sands with clear blue, warm water. The snorkeling on site is the best on the island! We also enjoyed eating lunch at Bayside on the beach which is causal but delicious!

Sugar Beach is located closely to so many excursions which makes it so convenient. I got certified in scuba diving at Sugar beach with Vitus. He made me feel so comfortable and also had fun while doing it! He also pointed out wildlife while diving. We saw a puffer fish, crabs, star fish, sea horse and lion fish. Vitus was awesome and I can't thank him enough for helping me in getting certified in diving.

Some other excursions we did was the sunset cruise which had beautiful views! We also hiked the Gros Piton. It was extremely challenging but so rewarding reaching the top! We hiked in the rain and it felt pretty great! Lastly, we booked an excursion with Moby Dick (located on the beach) with Graham. Graham was so great! We took a boat ride to the town of Soufriere, went the to volcanic sulphur mud bath (which makes your skin feel like a baby), then went to the superman waterfalls, had a local lunch and then snorkeled at Jade mountain.

Honestly, we can't say enough good things about Sugar Beach. This place is the most beautiful place we have ever been. They have so many personal touches. Almost every person there remembered us by name and was so kind. The people there honestly make Sugar beach so special. I actually teared up leaving because it was so spectacular. A few people we would like to acknowledge and thank for being so amazing to us (and sorry for not getting everyone's names because you all were great): Hands down our server Charles, just wow! You, my friend, go above and beyond and deserve all acknowledgment, thank you for making us feel so special. Vitus, as said before, you were so great in making our trip memorable and fun in scuba diving! Linus our morning server who always wanted to know about our day and gave us suggestions. Rachianna who was one of our servers for breakfast and Bayside who was so sweet and we were always so happy to see her. Claude who was our server on the sunset cruise, you were so attentive and caring. Julia was always a cheerful hostess and server at the Bayside. Merton- our mixologist at the Cane bar who taught us the game of snooker. Also the other bartender with the braces (so sorry we didn't catch your name) you made us laugh and smile every time we talked to you. You have such a contagious smile so thank you!! Angelique and Julien, you were always checking to make sure we had a great time and we appreciate that. Mark Sterner for also making sure our stay was wonderful. And lastly, Mike Walsh for helping us to coordinate this all.

Sugar beach, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you! Our honeymoon was unforgettable. We had so many wonderful moments and memories that will last a lifetime. We will definitely be back at some point. Thank you! "

" Un-be-lie-va-ble

This is one of the most romantic, idyllic, scenic, tranquil, elegant places I think I've ever been to. I've never experienced views this stunning - crystal clear water, white sands, lush vegetation and stunning cliffs on the sides of the Pitons.

The service is top class yet unobtrusive - you feel like it is your resort and yours alone. The rooms are spacious and stunning with luxurious interiors (I don't know what mattresses they have, but it feels like you are floating on a cloud when you sleep). Food is expensive - it comes with the territory I guess - but plentiful and wonderfully arranged.

Love it, love it, love it. "

" We stayed at Sugar Beach for 6 days at the end of May. Overall, we had a great time and experience. This resort definitely better than most of the options on the island due to accessible beach and great location with stunning views.

What we liked:
- Beach was great. Imported white sand, beach chairs and umbrellas, cocktail and food service
- Swimming pool was awesome
- Bayside Bar is great for an afternoon drink (highly recommend to try Coco Punch)
- We stayed at luxury villa with a small private pool around 600 level. Decor and usability was nice. Every night the staff would leave us either some local chocolate or muffins. You also get free water, Piton beer, and some soda options.

What we didn't like:
- The hotel is extremely expensive. To give you some perspective of prices for 2 people: breakfast ~$150, dinner $200 - $300 depending on what you eat and drink, cocktails ~$16. It is a luxury hotel, but it is outrages to price a dish at $26 that has 3 tiny shrimps. It honestly made us laugh
- The shuttle was really annoying. It takes time to get it and get around
- The private villa is not worse the price. The pool was dirty and it wasn't cleaned during our stay. Therefore it was useless
- Snorkling was terrible. The water was murky all the time. Very few corals and fish.
- Me and my boyfriend got bitten by something in the ocean. After the bites our skin got covered with blisters instantly
- The crowd in the hotel was super snobby

Would we come back to this hotel? Probably not. We give 4 stars only because the resort has beach access and fantastic views. If we would ever come back, we would actually stay at the hotel which is located closer to the beach. This would allow to get easily get around and not be connected to the shuttle. "

" We stayed elsewhere, so this is review is of the public facilities. You'll park quite a ways from the beach, but there are free shuttle vans to take you down and back up. All beaches in St. Lucia are public, but some resorts charge you a road use fee. Sugar Beach does not. Also, unlike most of the resorts, Sugar Beach provides loungers for free in a small area off to the edge of the beach near the reef. It can get a bit crowded on this sliver of beach as people wait for their water taxis, but we had no trouble getting loungers. The snorkeling here was excellent. "

" We absolutely love the Sugar Beach on St. Lucia. We have been coming to this location since 2000 when it was a Hilton, then Jalousie Plantation and 4 times since it became Sugar Beach. The improvements of the facilities and the quality of service is tops! The entire staff ROCKS! The Dive shop manager, Vitus is by far the best anywhere! Cannot wait to return! "

" The views are stunning. We ate dinner at the restaurant on the beach and we somewhat disappointed. The staff was excellent but the quality of food for the price was severely lacking. Honestly we ate a local dish at a mall in Rodney Bay that was better and 10% of the cost. I would suggest that you go to the Mango Tree restaurant when dinning out. 1/2 the price, better food and better view IMO. "
