The main focus of the 1st Global Forum for Youth Leaders - on Drug Use Prevention (GoFORTH) will be promoting leadership in drug prevention field.

The participants will be trained in various topics. They will be equipped with basic knowledge and skills in dealing with the problem of drugs use and enhance leadership qualities and life skills to lead drug prevention programmes in their own settings. They will be guided by expert resource persons and by youth leaders trained in the Colombo Plan modules of drug prevention.

✔ Theme and Logo: Each GoFORTH will have its own theme and common logo. The theme for the 1st GoFORTH is ‘Take CONTROL, LEAD the World.

✔ Pre-Forum Assignment: The participants in groups will design projects for ‘Youth Award’ of their choice.

✔ Skills Training: The main aim of the skills training is to equip the participants with necessary skills to be leaders in their communities, stay away from drugs, implement and manage projects.

✔ Cultural Exchange Night: GoFORTH will host a Cultural Exchange Night intended to inculcate cultural values in drug use prevention and to highlight and showcase culture and tradition unique to the regions of the participants.

✔ Outdoor Day: The outdoor day is a fun time out of the training halls and workshops, spent on sightseeing matched with team building activities. In between the sightseeing and team building, visit to a sustained drug programme is also arranged.

✔ Plenary Sessions and Brain Storming: The plenary session is another important component. Drug issues, best prevention practices, drug situation and the theme of GoFORTH will be discussed. Each skills training will have a plenary session with additional session on country presentation.

✔ Showcasing Best Practices: The participants of different countries will research on the current drug use and prevention practices in their respective countries and showcase it to other delegates in an exhibition which will be displayed in the conference hall throughout the forum. The exhibit can include print materials, short presentations and videos.
