Hikari MEC Company (Pvt) Limited is approved by the BOI (Board of Investment) of Sri Lanka. In the frame of the project we’ve built a brand new factory in Dambadeniya.

Dambadeniya Herbal Project - manufactures a range of herbal medicaments using spices and herbs bearing healing properties as raw material to manage most of the chronic diseases. The herbs have been selected from the ancient recipes written on leaves used by native Ayurvedic Physicians and have been used by our ancestors for generations and have been time tested for their efficacy and safety.

Our thinking is to bring back the old tradition of healing illnesses with herbal drugs that had been in use by our ancestors to cure illnesses before the western medical system invaded the island with the colonial administration by Europeans. This transformation of the medical care delivery system back to the old traditional method of practicing herbal medicine needs the input of the inherent treasure of knowledge of Ayurveda combined with the versatility of modern science and technology in order to produce and deliver herbal products for the health and well-being of humanity locally and internationally. This will be put to action by involving a group of outstanding personnel’s with an ability to work in a state-of-the-art industry environment.

Hikari MEC Company (Pvt) Limited is engaged in processing and manufacturing a range of herbal products of medicinal/therapeutic value used in the treatment of chronic diseases amongst humans. The range selected is based on ancient Ola leaves written scripts of prescriptions used by our forefathers for health care activities in the ancient period of Sri Lanka and perhaps in other Asian countries. These are commonly known in the Western world as “herbals”.

With regard to herbals, there are two kinds which are single and Compound forms and are in different dosage. Compound drugs are normally prescriptive products to be given only by practicing physicians and are not normally prepared by patients unless the physicians recommend. Single drugs are used by the patients as an initial medicament before visiting the physicians and on the response of the drug the patients decides whether or not to consult the physician.
These drugs are still used in the raw form in Sri Lanka. The medicaments are prepared in situ using the prescription served by the physician and the preparation itself is restricted only to a few dosages. The preparations do not have longer shelf life as in the ancient period the healers did not have the technology to preserve them. Preservation was not an important feature during this period.
Our company plans to prepare the same drugs with the old prescription, with the use of modern technology.
