Description

INTRODUCTION
Phoenix Industries Ltd, Sri Lanka's leading plastic manufacturer, is proud to be the first manufacturer of Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) in Sri Lanka. Manufactured under license from Lubrizol (Formerly Noveon USA), Phoenix FlowGuard CPVC pipes and fittings are made using a specialty compound chemically known as Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride which meets cell class 23447 B as defined by ASTM D1784, boasts a design stress of 2000 PSI and has a maximum service tempurature of 93C.
Phoenix FlowGuard pipes are produced in Copper Tube Size (CTS) from 15mm (1/2") to 50mm in two different standard dimensional rations - SDR 11 and SDR 13.5. The fittings are produced as per SDR 11. All Phoenix FlowGuard CPVC compound having the same physical Properties. Pipes and fittings produced as per SDR 11 meet the requirement of ASTM D2846 whereas the pipes produced with SDR 13.5 meet the requirement derived from ASTM D442, specific to CPVC pipes in Iron Pipe Size (IPS) dimension, which also can be applied to CPVC pipes in Copper Tube Size (CTS) dimension.
Apart from having the same physical properties, SDR 11 and SDR 13.5 have different wall thicknesses and therefore, at any given temperature also have different pressure ratings. For example:

SDR 11- 23 temperature (C)- 28.1 (kg/Cm2)/ 400 (PSI)
82 temperature (C) - 7 (kg/Cm2)/ 100 (PSI)

SDR 13.5- 23 temperature (C)- 22.5 (kg/Cm2)/ 320 (PSI)
82 temperature (C) - 5.6 (kg/Cm2)/ 80 (PSI)

Phoenix also markets FlowGuard pipes in Iron Pipe Sizes (IPS). Available sizes are 65mm (2 1/2") to 300mm (12") in SCH 44mm and 65mm (2 1/2") to 250mm (10") in SCH 80 which meet the requirements of ASTM F441 pressure rating (130 IPS to 850 PSI) which varies with some schedule, pipe size and temperature.
