Ingi, which means ginger in Tamil, is one of our 4 dogs. Not only she is super sweet and always sunny tempered but she’s part of our security system along with CCTV to monitor who’s going and coming on our property. We also have electronic safes in all glam cabanas and a team of 5 cats to keep the rodents away :)

The kiosks are our most basic accommodations. They are small (7m2), the mattresses are set directly on the wooden deck, they have a fan and a mosquito net, a power plug to charge your electronic devices and not private attached bathroom. But 2 very nice shared bathroom that we have built this year and most of all, an unique location facing Arugam Bay Main Point. They won’t suit everyone but those who want a feeling of exclusive adventure and experience the magical vibe of Upa...li. Mari is one of them and she can’t wait to return. If you can’t stand the sand, need full darkness to sleep, a soundproof room or AC, this is definitely not for you. But Arugam Bay has a lot of classic hotels and we’ll always welcome you at the cafe for breakfast and all day long snacks.

Our goal : No more plastic at Main Point. On our side, we no longer sell plastic bottles or give plastic straws at Upali Beach. We sell water by the pitcher or by the glass for our restaurant customers and hand over to our sleeping guests a metal bottle which can be refilled anytime at a special rate. We don’t give free water as buying and bringing the water has a cost and as we believe that gratuity doesn’t raise awareness about how limited and precious this resource is. On... your side, please don’t bring plastic bottles or take them back with you.
