Jerad and Rojan organise dry food rations for the three Kunchukulam villages. We thanks the many Bridging Lanka supporters in Australia and Singapore for funding these basic food items for families struggling as a result of Covid-19 curfews and lockdowns.

Our Kunchukulam Youth Village Development Committee is made up of a great bunch of young people who have been with us since the beginning. Their focus areas include helping other young people from three isolated villages develop career pathways in a place that has a 49% youth unemployment rate. The committee's attention is also turning to chronic kidney disease and how to save their loved ones from dying of this dreadful disease.

Pradeep and Jerad have created a super learning space in Kunchukulam. They want to benefit all young people there through offering IT and computer classes. Young women and men now frequent our Youth Empowerment Hub where daily classes in ICT help them prepare for employment and a digital future.

Our work to develop eco-tourism ventures with the youth of Kunchukulam continues. We hope the new Minister of Wildlife and Tourism, Hon John Amaratunga, will help us achieve our aim of protecting forests and wildlife , increase tourism to Mannar District and in turn increase job opportunities for Kunchukulam's youth in the new eco-tourism sector!

Father Ronees visited the newly completed Youth Empowerment Hub and got a low down about Bridging Lanka's work with young people in Kunchukulam. However, dry turned to wet and the heavens opened the flood gates. Lucky thing the new Youth Hub is waterproof!

We miss Nilanthan and Jenat. They were part of our original group - and wonderful forest guides. Now they are working at the Madhu Church canteen so we don't see much of them! Sad!
