Beyond the western coast of Sri Lanka, where tropical waves break with bubbly sparkling white, "Ruvini Aqua Plants Lanka" sits surrounded by natural scenic beauty,
Off 20 kms from the commercial capital, Colombo.

"Ruvini Aqua Plants Lanka" was incorporated by Erwin J. Fernando Esqr. in 1985 who counted over 35 years of experience in ornamental fish breeding and propagation of aquatic plants for the international market. The varieties of freshwater plants propagated at “Ruvini” range from the ever-popular “Water Trumpet” to the more exotic “Water Lillys” and to many other species.

We innovate

Our founder, the resourceful and imaginative Erwin J. Fernando, pioneered the "Mud Pond Technique" and launched "Ruvini Aqua Plants Lanka" with a strong emphasis on
producing water plants of high quality standards. This technique is now ubiquitously adopted in the freshwater plant and fish breeding industry in the island.
Since then we have improved our production through innovating devices, structures, techniques and fine tunings constantly. Our culture of innovation has enabled us to produce bountiful volumes of water plants that magnify our capacity, enabling us to cater for very large orders.

Our nurseries in optimal tropical environment

The plants produced by Ruvini Aqua are lush with well-grown features and of the precise natural colour and hue. The major contributor to this effect is the optimal natural
tropical environment prevalent in this part of the world. The tropical sun, temperature and humidity really encourages growth and pigmentation of the water plants which
are in their natural element while in Ruvini Aqua nurseries. This feature that our water plants enjoy, put them a cut above the rest and plants grown in non tropical climates or sub tropical climates would struggle to vie with our products.

Our processes and care for plants

At "Ruvini Aqua" germinating plants are selected with meticulous inspection, carefully potted and planted with the latest technological trends. A distinct feature of
this process is that no chemicals are being used at "Ruvini Aqua" at any stage of growing, harvesting or breeding. This process has zero pollution effect on the environment and we constantly strive for greener production processes. Our aquatic plants and fish go through a number of selection cycles with specific instructions laid down to determine appearance and other quality aspects. This ensures that every plant or fish that leave our nurseries meet stringent quality standards and visually pleasing aesthetics.
