Culinary hybrid at the Historic Galle Dutch Hospital - The Tuna and The Crab, a Dharshan Munidasa creation, is a fun restaurant, combining the best of Nihonbashi and Ministry of Crab and it opened its doors to the public in November 2014. Opportunities to open restaurants in Galle are hard to come by and when the development of the Dutch Hospital was initiated, it became the perfect location to create yet another unique restaurant.
The Tuna and The Crab is a hybrid Seafood and Japanese restaurant that uses fresh local ingredients alongside Japanese culinary principles. The menu here features a unique blend of dishes including a host of exclusive new dishes such as Olive Oil and Soy Sauce Sashimi, Panko Fish Fingers, Crab Pasta and The Bento Box for Wine Lovers and The Galle Fort Bento. The set of choices at The Tuna and The Crab are vast and include a selection of beef options.
In typical Dharshan Munidasa style, The Tuna and the Crab uses fresh local ingredients alongside Japanese Culinary Principles. The strength of each dish is attributed to its core ingredients and the final outcome of the dish always focuses on bringing out the best of said ingredient. This is done because the complexity of Japanese cuisine stems from its simplicity.
Situated in the newly renovated Galle Dutch Hospital in the Galle Fort, The Tuna and The Crab overlooks the ocean. The layout of the restaurant is somewhat of an Avant-Garde design for a Japanese restaurant in this day and age, and emphasizes the elegance and beauty of the location.
The Tuna and The Crab is open daily from 12.00pm to 10.30pm and offers a unique dining experience, being the first of its kind on Sri Lanka’s southern coastline. For more information or reservations call 091-309-7497
