" St. Lawrence is one of six UNESCO World Heritage churches in Macau and a place we enjoy visiting. It is situated away from the crowded Senado Square, meaning that it receives far fewer visitors and provides a much more peaceful and relaxing place to see and spend time.

Dating back to the mid 16th century, St. Lawrence is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Macau. It is also one of Macau's largest and most beautiful churches as well.

The church features a traditional neo-classical facade, painted in a pastel yellow colour. There is a lovely staircase leading up church entrance as well as a small garden space with park benches. The garden area provides more character to St. Lawrence compared to its peer churches in the Historic Centre of Macau. This is always a pleasant place to take a seat and enjoy a rest if you've been walking for a while.

The inside of St. Lawrence is enjoyable to see as well. There is subtle use of Baroque design, particularly around the altar. The wooden ceiling is quite attractive as well, painted in soft blue colour, it complements the pastel yellows found inside and outside the church very well. In all, the interior of the church is simple, modest yet slightly elegant in appearance. Like the outside of church, it is quite pleasing on the eye.

In the end, St. Lawrence Church can be a pleasant surprise for those who make the time to get away from Senado Square and see the World Heritage attractions in other ares of the Historic Centre of Macau. You can find St. Lawrence on the small Avenue Sao. Lorenzo, 6-8 minutes walk from Senado Square or 2 minutes walk past St. Augustine Square. "

" Catholic church, historic and sacred place... But personnel aren't servant of God. Servant of wealth and prestige. Like others Catholic institutes (instituto salesiano, colégio d. São José, D.Bosco, yuet wah, sacred heart cannosa school...) Faith in God doesn't count... They want wealth and prestige. It's sad. "

" Sadly the clock doesn’t work anymore. The church itself is stunning and if stood right at top of staircases, you’ll understand why the story of people waiting for their families to return home as you can look directly into the ocean, past the Government Palace/ Governors House. "
