Milestones of Dragon Electronics

Some few important milestones of the Company:

• 1964 Our Chairman, Mr. Michel LAN founded Dragon de Chine at La Chaussée Street in Port Louis. At that time, our first product was the Vacuum Tube Radio from NEC, Japan.

• 1970 We were among the first to launch the colour TV in Mauritius.

• 1975 Ariston appointed us as its distributor.

• 1985 Due to high import duties on TV, and following the incentive from the government, we started a local assembly line NEC TVs.

• 1986 A second assembly line was added for Ariston free-standing cookers.

• 1989 Goldstar, now known as LG, appointed us as its distributor.

• 1990 The company name changed to Dragon Electronics, and at the same time, we introduced Personal Computers, Key Telephone systems, and PABX systems.

• 1992 The management team moved from La Chaussée Street to our new head office at Dragon House, Pump Road, Port Louis.

• 1997 Ariston Built-in Appliances were launched.

• 2002 We were the first to introduce LG CFC-Free Air Conditioners.

• 2004 We were the first to introduce LG Mobile Phones.

• 2008 We were the first to introduce LG Inverter Technology Air Conditioners.

• 2011 We opened the first LG Brand Shop at Bagatelle Mall. It was the 2nd LG Brand Shop to open in the sub-Saharan region, only a few days after the one at Canal Walk in Cape Town, South Africa.

• 2012 The second LG Brand Shop opened at Grand Baie La Croisette. Since then, we have converted our remaining 6 shops to LG Brand Shops.

• 2013 LG South Africa awarded Dragon Electronics the Best Performing Distributor

• 2014 50 Years Celebration

From 1964 to date, Dragon Electronics has grown up to 150 employees. Together as a team, we work towards the success of the company, and grow into a company respected by all.
