Reinventing ChinatownNew Chinatown Foundation is a group of motivated people from various backgrounds and age groups with the common aim of reviving Chinatown.So far, this foundation has gathered more than 91 shops and traders in the first ring of the Chinatown (Royal Road between La Paix Street and Joseph Riviere Street / Emmanuel Anquetil Street between Remy Ollier Street and Queen Street / Dr Sun Yat Sen Street between Remy Ollier Street and Queen Street) for the purpose of reinstating this part of our National Heritage to its olden days cultural & economic splendour.Mission :• Restore and Promote the Cultural Heritage represented by old shops, museum, pagoda, old houses and street food corners• Create a Melting Pot of different cultures in Chinatown whilst preserving the Chinese culture and traditions with an opening towards the Mauritian Multi-culture• Help Chinatown and Port-Louis regain their Economic Buoyancy & Development• Transform Chinatown into an International Landmark making it a Tourist Must-Stop with Arts, Culture & Culinary Experience• Link Chinatown Mauritius to Overseas Chinatowns like Malaysia, Paris, London, Bangkok, Cape Town and Perth through Cultural & Economic exchanges Objectives •Establish and reinforce links with partners worldwide
