" I rate based on the following:
1. Location (good) - It is somehow perfectly located at the centre of PJ
2. Facilities (bad) – This is disappointing:
i. Firstly, the toilet distance is 2 (two) Futsal courts away. Just imagine if you need to go toilet half way during the class. The management mentioned that they are not allowed to build a toilet (some pipe issues etc...) in the gym, but there is a shower area located inside the gym with strong ammonia smell (yes, pee smell). The Shampoo and body wash are not provided. Toilet is a necessity, in this case, I totally cannot accept it. Then the management mentioned that they cannot please everyone.
Secondly, the hand wash smells just like my dish washer, and it is diluted (in a serious cost saving way). The management still point to me that, they buy the washer in bucket.
Thirdly, the mat, this is seriously smelly, dirty and contains lots of bacterial, you will feel it when you are doing stretching or body contact with the mat. The management comes out with a solution that requesting the member to wash their feet by dipping in the pail (contains disinfectant to clean all germs) at the gym entrance. This comes to lots questions; What kind of disinfectant they are using? Is the diluted “Disinfectant” enough for a group of people? After dipping the leg in the “Disinfectant”, the mat will not smell bad? Basically, the smell is from sweating and the mixture of sweat on the mat, this is an uncontrollable factor. Hence, the management should re-consider the mat quality. As there are more people these days who work out in CrossFit gyms and health clubs to keep fit and have a healthier lifestyle, I’m sure you can find a better mat, if you can’t, it’s budget issue.
ii. Equipment - The management bought a "Cage" for Cage fighting and a fighting stage. Basically, I do not think you will be benefited if you join the group class, because it is impossible for everyone to fit in a cage or even the fighting stage. But it is different story if you join personal training. These new toys are meant for personal training or some occasion purpose. Besides, some of the gym equipment is rusty, and the hygiene condition is bad as well. Gym equipment are used by multiple people and gym is generally an open area and warm environment - both of which increase the likelihood that germs are lingering on items. Unfortunately, the gym does not require employees to wipe down the equipment on daily basis.
3. Staffs attitudes – I have no comment on this, because I seldom communicate with the management and I suppose they are somehow friendly. As I was shocked that they mentioned to me that the bosses do not want to be close with the gym members because gym members will take advantage by requesting discount from them. This is funny.
4. Price – Basically, I noticed that a lot of old fitness members left the gym throughout the year. A year ago, I joined for RM1,188 (all classes – 13 months), now is RM1,8XX. The inflation is approximately 34% with the facilities above. As explained by management, this is due to purchasing the new Equipment (Cage and fighting stage) and renting a better place for the gym. By the way, both explanation does not really prove the inflation of 34% because the I never utilise the “Equipment” (Cage and Stage); the new gym place is spacious but every time I only use a certain area, so I care about the quality of the mat. If you can bear with the situation above, then this is the right gym for you. "
