Township Productions was established as a theatre production company in 2001 and is based and operational in the populist township of the previously disadvantaged communities, Katutura and similar townships throughout the country. Townships are generally the most neglected areas in any given society and through projects such as the proposed one, Township Productions attempts to address disparities such as wealth, poverty, education, and community ownership of social and cultural development.

Township Productions has over the years contributed to the promotion of poetry, be it written, performance and publications. As a result five A5 size publications of POETREE and two pocket size publications were published. Township Productions is part of the SADC Poetry Festival, held in Windhoek in 2009, in Gaborone in 2010 with a number of SADC countries and poets in participation. Additionally Township Productions has a partnership agreement with Lyric Line, a poetry organization in Germany, Berlin.
