*UNIZIK MOURNS*

The news of the demise of a final year students of the department of *Micro Biology* by name, *FRANCIS _Chinedu Mmabuobi_*, who fell to the cold hands of death in the late hours of Saturdays has indeed brought sadness and grief not only to the family and friends of the deceased but also to the entire students of *Nnamdi Azikiwe University*.

The events leading to his death is one that is extremely worrisome to students of this institution, as It could happen t...o anyone of us or our close friend.

Hence, the need to make our voice heard is very Paramount.

To that regard, we urge all *Students of UNIZIK* to come out in their numbers tomorrow to pay our last respect to our fellow student as well as register our dissatisfaction to the University management on this matter. We also call on *All Students* to come out in their numbers *dressed in any black outfit* and assemble at *Garuba square* by *7am*, from where we would proceed to the university administrative building (Admin block), remain there, until we are addressed by the *University Management*.

We are calling on all *Media houses in Anambra State* and its environs to come out tomorrow to support us in this exercise.

UNIZIK REGISTRAR IS DEAD

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph E. Ahaneku, FAS announces the death of the University Registrar, Dr. Ike Hyacinth Isidienu, FCAI who died on 19th June, 2018 at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu after a brief illness. The family has also informed the University of Burial Rites as follows:

1. Date: Wednesday, August 1, 2018 - Inter-Denominational Service... Time: 11.00 am Venue: University Auditorium

2. Date: Thursday, August 2, 2018 - Vigil Mass Time: 5.00 pm Venue: His Country home, Achalla-Uni Village, Nteje

3. Date: Friday, August 3, 2018 - Requiem Mass Time: 10.00 am Venue: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nteje, followed by interment at his compound

Towards a successful burial the Vice-Chancellor has constituted a burial committee with the following persons as members;

INAUGURATION OF THE NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS, HOUSTON BRANCH, TEXAS, USA

The Inauguration of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Houston Branch, Texas, USA took place on Thursday, 3rd May, 2018 at the Texas Southern University (TSU), Houston, Texas, USA. The Nigeria delegation was led by the NSE President, Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu, FNSE.

In his opening speech, the NSE President informed the gathering of the importance in forming the NSE Houston Branch, which includes t...he leveraging of both human and materials resources between USA and Nigeria, development of Young Engineers by sharing knowledge and experiences and the need to deploy our professional manpower to rural communities across Nigeria, as well as proper implementation of Presidential Executive Order 5 that will benefit Nigeria Engineers at Home and Abroad.

The Engineering Department Chair at TSU Houston, Texas, Dr. David Olowokere made contribution on the importance of coming together. He said it will provide sharing of ideas, knowledge and research findings. He acknowledged to have benefited a lot in recent past by seeking view and opinion from Colleagues and former Students in Nigeria, in the areas of the faculty management and development. He said, Students and Staff at TSU have acknowledged various contribution been made by Nigeria Scholars in the areas of teaching, research and community services.

The Newly Inaugurated Chairman of NSE Houston Branch, Engr. Fisoye Delano, MNSE, made it known to the audience that he would share his wealth of knowledge and experience with Members in the Oil and Gas Industries, both at Home and Abroad. He also promised to work towards the development of the Young Engineers.

The President of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Texas State University Chapter, Olanrewaju Oluleye, appreciated the formation of the Houston Branch of NSE. He said, it would be another umbrella for all of their Members, who are Nigerians. He promised to be an active Member of the Branch and that they will continue to bring together all Black Engineers and other minority for the progress of Engineering profession and services to humanity.

The program was climaxed with the cutting of NSE 60th Anniversary cake by some important dignitaries.

In attendance were the NSE Deputy President, Engr Babagana Mohammed FNSE; wife of the NSE President, Deaconess Yemisi Mokuolu, NSE Past President Engr I.K. Inuwa FNSE; some NSE Council Members, among others.

I, on behalf of the Membership Services Committee use this medium to congratulate the Council and the entire membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers on this great feat and laudable achievement.

Long Live the Nigerian Engineers! Long Live the Nigerian Society of Engineers!! Long Live the Federal Republic of Engineers!!!
