The Vice-Chancellor, Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa (SLU) Prof Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu has on Monday 13th August 2018, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of SLU with Tetragrammaton International Ltd., Atlanta, Georgia. The collaborative effort is to focus on providing SLU with career and capability development through research, technology and staff and students exchange programmes. A campus tour of The University of Georgia, Griffin campus was undertaken by the Vice-Chancellor after mutual discussions with the Assistant Provost and Campus Director (Dr. Lew Hunnicutt). Places visited included amongst others, the plant resources conservation unit (PGRCU) which has more than 99,000 plant samples representing 260 genera and 1600 species from almost every country of the world.

The Management of Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, wishes to inform the general public that Nazir Muhammad (NAS/14/CSC1053), a Level 400 Computer Science student of the University, who was alleged to have been abducted by unknown persons on Sunday 24th June, 2018 has finally resurfaced on Wednesday 18th July, 2018.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that his disappearance was staged by him and other accomplices to avoid writing end of 2nd semester (2017/18) examinations due to his previous poor academic performance and unpreparedness for the examinations.

Further investigations are being carried out by the relevant security agencies. You will be informed of the outcome of the investigations when concluded.

VC Attends AUNS Summit

The Vice-Chancellor, Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa and Secretary-General of Association of West Africa Universities (AWAU) Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu participated at a workshop organised by the African Union Scientific, Technical and Research Commission (AU-STR) on 27th June 2018 at its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

AU-STR is a specialized institution of the African Union which has been at the vanguard of promotion of science and technology ...in the past 6 decades at the continental level. The African Union Network of Sciences is a virtual network that involves a wide range of African Scientists, Engineers, Technology developers, innovators, inventors and individuals working together to interact, cooperate, exchange information and complement one another in research and academic work, to address the African Science and Technology development challenges.

The workshop was aimed at intimating Vice-Chancellors, Principal Officers of Nigerian Universities and Heads of Scientific Associations and Institutions with detailed information about AUNS and hands-on training on the use of the portal. The participants are expected to serve as champions of the AUNS Portal and to promote it as a common platform for knowledge sharing within the academia.

Presentations were made by the Executive Director Dr. Engr. Ahmed Hamdy, Drs Kyari Mohamed and Gilbert. The participants and the officials of AUNS exchanged ideas on the effective use of the portal in order to achieve the set objectives of the AU-STR.

NEWS: SLU KEY TO SUCCESSFUL ELECTION IN JIGAWA STATE – JIGAWA RESIDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER

Sule Lamido University (SLU) Kafin Hausa was described as a pool of talents needed for the successful conduct of any election in Jigawa State. This assertion was made by the Jigawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Dr. Mahmuda Isah when he paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, SLU, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ri...badu on Thursday 22nd March, 2018.

Dr. Isah started that his visit was to pay tribute to the academic institution and solicit the maximum support of the University particularly regarding manpower as there would be a great demand towards the successful conduct of the 2019 general elections in Jigawa State. He added that the visit was in line with the policy objective of the Federal Government of Nigeria for conducting free, fair and credible elections come 2019 of which INEC is mandated to deliver. The Commissioner said SLU is not only a stake holder but an essential pivot for the success of free, fair and credible election in the state and the country at large.

The Vice-Chancellor, Sule Lamido University (SLU), Kafin Hausa, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, assured the Team of the readiness of the University to support INEC to achieve its mandate in Jigawa State and Nigeria in general as it is a right not a privilege. The Vice-Chancellor maintained that the University staff would exhibit honesty, transparency and fairness. The Vice-Chancellor further assured the support of both the teaching and non teaching staff of SLU towards achieving credible elections in Jigawa State describing their participation as an additional experience and a selfless service to the nation and humanity adding that the success of INEC is a success for all.

The REC was accompanied by the management staff of the state INEC.

BREAKING NEWS: SLU GETS ACCREDITATION

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted accreditation to all the Fifteen (15) Programmes offered in Sule Lamido University (SLU), Kafin Hausa. The approval was contained in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu by the Executive-Secretary, NUC Professor Abubakar A. Rasheed. This followed a visitation by different accreditation panels sent by the NUC with a view to asce...rtaining whether the programmes run by SLU conform with Commission’s standards or not.

Thirteen (13) out of the fifteen programmes run in the University were granted Full Accreditation while two (2) programmes were given Interim Accreditation. With this development, the University has now got clearance to continue admitting undergraduate students in all its fifteen (15) programmes and will be able to mobilise its graduates for the one-year mandatory national service under National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

It should be noted that programmes with Full Accreditation will be revisited by the NUC for another accreditation after five (5) years while those programmes with Interim Accreditation will be revisited after two (2) years.
