BEE KEEPING.

• We adhere to Rudolf Steiner’s principles of natural living.

- Hives stay in permanent sites (no pollination or crop movements).
- Queens are raised from their own hives (queen eggs rather than worker eggs)
- Hives are left with their own honey stores rather than feed supplements
(i.e. sugar).
- Varroa is treated with essential oils rather than chemical pest strips.
- Hive diseases like sack brood and chalk brood are treated with slices of citrus.
- Wax moth and other insect incursions are freezer treated (minus 20).
- Brood boxes are removed and replaced yearly to prevent AFB.
- Aperies sites are organic or spray free.
- Only sites with a diverse range of flora are used.

• Bee Health is our primary concern.

Honey processing

- Only caped honeycomb is harvested (minimal nectar).
- Our honey is unheated (heat kills the beneficial enzymes in honey).
- No onprocessing (whipping, creaming, pasteurizing).
• New Zealand food regulations state honey must contain.
No less than 60% reducing sugars (honey).
No more than 21% moisture.
• Our honey has no sugar or water added.
•
• Apiaries are harvested separately and batched accordingly.
•
• Our honey is spun out if the comb into a vat (insuring batch separation) and then jarred.
•
• Honey is a bacteria static antibiotic material when in its natural state.
• Honey is a food source that lasts forever.
•
• Never before has so much been done to do so little to honey.
