Hey Queenstown! If you're wanting to make your own beeswax wraps, head on down to Mitre 10 Mega in Brookes Road. They're our newest stockist for our DIY beeswax wrap kits, and we couldn't be happier to have them on board. :D

Don't forget if you're in Hawke's Bay, Arataki Honey Visitor Centre carries our full range of kits too!

Of course we know it's a bit of a hike for the rest of you, so there's always our website: www.shop.deesbees.nz

I'M BACK!! Didja miss me?? :) Sorry for the radio silence last week, but I ended up on bed rest for a few days after a common cold got above its station and tried to turn into pneumonia on me. The nerve!

Anyways, I'm feeling much, much better now, so let's celebrate recovery by helping some other people feel a bit better. It's time to tally up sales of our DIY Kits in support of Rainbow Youth and Breast Cancer Research. We haven't done this since before Plastic F...ree July, so I know it's gonna be a goody.

Are ya ready?

Pink Ribbon......... 51 kits!!

Rainbow Youth...... 43 kits!!

At $2 per kit, that's over $100 for Pink Ribbon, and $86 for Rainbow Youth.

But you know what, July was such a good month for us I'm just gonna bump that Rainbow Youth up to $100 too.

WOOHOO!! Well done everyone!

I'll get those donations made later today.

I know my message inbox is pretty crammed too, and I promise I'll get to everyone soon, but the sun is shining (sorta), so the bees win for now :) and I gotta tell ya, I miss them little girls when I don't see them for a bit.

hi folks. Quick status update - we're now packing orders from 8pm Sunday night, and making reasonable headway, so we're just half a day behind where I want to be, but we're getting there.

We could never have predicted how crazy the last few days would get - basically in the space of 72 hours we had more than a month's worth of sales!

Thank you all for your patience. If you are teaching a class or waiting on urgent delivery for gifts, please let me know through messaging a...nd I'll try and bump you up the list, but realistically it's not going to be much of a delay.

have a great day, Dee

Plastic Free July has been absolutely amazing for us... but it's not over yet. :) So I was thinking, what can I do to wrap this month up with a bang, and say thank you to everyone who's already bought from us as well.

SO... how about FREE SHIPPING FOR ALL ORDERS OVER $15 until midnight 31 July.

No code required - if your order totals $15 or more (after any discounts are applied), I'll take care of the delivery cost for you. :)

...

We've already got 10% off all our standard DIY kits and ready made beeswax wraps right through to the 31st (just use the code "plasticfree" at checkout).

If you've bought already and liked our products, maybe wished you'd bought a bit more... or if you've been sitting on the fence wanting to try them.... now's the time!

SALE MUST END MIDNIGHT 31 JULY 2018

A good bit of food for thought. Has anyone seen the documentary she mentions - "The Clean Bin Project"?

I had a question somewhere, and of course I can't remember where or find the question, from someone who had bought wraps to use on their cheese, but found the new wraps were transferring some taste to the cheese. Apologies if it was you, but it's a good point to raise, so I thought I'd answer it here.

Of course doesn't only apply to cheese - sandwiches, especially with white bread, are very good at picking up the honey scent as well.... nice on a sweet sandwich, but not nec...essarily a great match all the time.

The good news is, it's fairly easily fixed. Both the beeswax and the tree resin we use are naturally aromatic, and their scent is one of the properties we love about them, but it does fade reasonably quickly. So I simply use our new wraps the first few times to cover bowls in the fridge where they're not in direct contact with the food, or to wrap stronger flavoured food that isn't so prone to taste transfer - sliced apples and oranges where the skin is not so absorbent (or not eaten), cut ends of veg, etc.

By the time they've been used and washed two or three times the scent has faded and they're good to go!

Good morning everyone! It's back to school day here, so one of us is happy at least :D.. the other two are moving a little more slowly.

It's going to be a HUGE day here at home though, because you all took such good advantage of our school holiday special that I've got about 100 kits to go out today, not to mention ready-made wraps! YIKES! I've enlisted a friend to help though, and we should get there ok. :) Bear with me if it takes a day extra to get your orders out th...ough, 'k?

So, yes, our SANITY special is gone for now (quiet in the cheap seats - we all know my sanity left some time ago), but it's not too late:

we've still got our "plasticfree" discount code running right up until the end of the month - just enter "plasticfree" in the discount code at checkout to get 10% off all standard DIY kits AND ready-made wraps!
