" Waiter sat us at a table and ignored us for over 30 minutes. No one said a single word to us the entire time, despite us trying to flag someone down and saying hello and help in several different languages to every employee that walked by. No eye contact or acknowledgement of being human, I would highly suggest avoiding this place because they obviously have no respect or care at all. We ended up walking out right in front of the guy who sat us and he just looked right through us. "

" I found this restaurant based on the recommendations of the hotel concierge. As an added bonus it was in a walking distance from the hotel. This was a weekend and the restaurant was busy. There was indoor and outdoor seating but this being a balmy evening in August the outdoor was the popular choice. A word of caution: in Romania the smoking is banned inside the restaurant but allowed in the garden. So if you like the garden atmosphere you have to deal with the reality that most of Romanians smoke.
There was a duo playing popular tunes in English and then there was another four pieces band that would come to the tables playing traditional Romanian songs. If this sounds a bit overwhelming it was not because the bands would take turns and the music for most of the part was kept at the background levels; besides both bands were very good.
The waiter presented me with a menu that was unique in appearance in the sense that was printed on a newspaper combining the history of the place, photographs and jokes with the actual menu.
The food selection was abundant and included plenty of traditional romaine cuisine (largely based on pork, chicken and beef) but even the non-meat eater could find a reasonable selection. Of course, as the name implies (“the little keg of beer”), there were plenty of good beers to choose from.
I had some trout and vegan side dishes (in Romania you can get those in most restaurants because they are considered “lent food”). Everything came well prepared and in abundant quantities.
The service was a tad slow but maybe because it was during a peak time. Probably, if you like your food very hot you need to mention that ahead of time. I did so and my French fries came perfect. I would eat here again, for sure. "
