" According to an inscription on the beam separating the narthex from the nave, the wooden church of Curtea was built in 1794. This is the largest wooden church in Banat area: 18.60 m long and 7.20 m wide. Other dimensions include: sanctuary radius 5.10 m, perimeter walls height 3.10 m, vault height 5.20 m, bell tower height 9.50 m.

Built from solid oak beams, the walls are plastered on the outside and covered with oak boards on the inside. Hero crosses (crosses built in memory of the village heroes who died in far away places, usually during the first and second world wars) are sculpted in relief on the west and south walls. A wooden shingle roof and a bell tower complete the picture.

In the narthex, above the west entry, there is a white inscription stating that the church was painted between 1804 and 1806. The painting is attributed to Petru Nicolici. The painting of the cross in the sanctuary was executed by painter Lazăr Gherdanovici.

Part of the original inventory can still be observed inside the church. Sensitive items, like books, reside now in the new church, built in 1937 in closer proximity of the wooden church.

Restoration work took place in or around 1966 and 1981, but unfortunately no information about the nature and degree of the work is available. Starting in 2010, the church in Curtea was included in a larger restoration project, and received a new roof and bell tower. The restoration work is not yet finished. "
