Indoor pollutants, like formaldehyde and carbon dioxide (CO2), are more prevalent than we are aware of. Studies have shown they can cause headaches and reduced cognitive function. What we propose here is to rid closed spaces of these pollutants by use of natural means. Current air purifiers remove generic pollutants, but still do not create a healthy indoor environment. AirGae is developing a microalgae air purifier - harnessing the natural properties of microalgae to remove CO2 and other air pollutants, while, at the same time, generating oxygen. We aim to install our systems in closed indoor spaces to provide a more healthy and conducive surrounding, increasing productivity and inspiration among office workers and a more pleasant environment for home dwellers.
