Cat Adoption Drive started out as a passion to find potential caring adopters to adopt our cats of all ages. The Facebook page was then created in November 2014 as a project for Communication and New Media, with the intention to reach out and engage with more adopters through the use of social media platforms. Facebook has been effective as a main connection with the ease of reaching out to a large base of target audiences, while providing customised advertising at low cost. We are able to share basic information, pictures and videos about our cats. With this platform, we are able to conduct our market research and understand on our target audiences. In Jan 2015, majority of our adopters were 18 to 24 years old, and a high percentage of male adopters. Therefore, we used different marketing strategies to target more young adults and those who are more compassionate in adopting. In the project, we aimed to create awareness and positive word-of-mouth to adopt our cats. Today, we have 2,773 likes and counting. It was a surprising outcome as it exceeded our expected reach. This adoption drive had allow us to personally connect with different kinds of adopters and have understanding with regards to their demands and manage conflicting interests. Over the years, we have received supportive feedbacks that our adopted cats are in perfect care. Additionally, we educate and train these adopters in taking care of our cats. We communicate in the best possible means such as home visitations or through calls and texts. We also liaises with other animal shelters to treat sick cats, bringing them for veterinary check ups and when they are sick or injured, vaccinate them against illnesses, and neutering or sterilising them.
