" Update 8 April: Changed to 3 stars. A disappointing dinner. Realized that the chef doing hot mains have left. We wanted to order the braised seasonal fish and had to ask several times what kind of fish it was. The staff on duty told us the name of the fish in Japanese and it drew a blank, and then with lots of back and forth with the main sushi chef, finally managed to google a picture for us. We were frustrated and tired by then.
We decided to just stick to what we ordered the previous time - grilled fish cheek to avoid any surprises. They told us it was not hamachi as it was not in season. But it still turned out to be hamachi in the end.
The hamachi portion though was so small, almost 1/3 of what we had previously. And not as juicy or delicious as before. Miso soup given was also full of fish bones and extremely salty.
Really miss the friendly hot mains chef working here previously.
We also ordered sushi this time around. 13 pieces but none outstanding. Only the umi one was not bad.
Service was very slow and catered mostly to the 4 Japanese clients sitting at the counter. We had to ask repeatedly for the menu, drinks and condiments etc. We were the only 2 other clients.
Quality of food comparable to your average Sushi Tei joint. Not worth the frustration and cramp space, would not return. Come only if you can speak fluent Japanese.

A really cosy hole in the corner Japanese sushi place. Very homely and chill vibes. Lots of Japanese patrons, the menu is also mainly in Japanese. There is only 3 staff, the sushi chef who is likely the owner, the chef doing hot mains and the lady manager who takes our orders. The lady was so kind and motherly, kept asking us how the food was. She may need some prompting service wise but really sincere and fast when you get her attention.

The food was served in hearty and generous portions. Would highly recommend their sushi and grilled fish. The buri fish cheek was juicy, tender and succulent. With flaky flesh and so so fresh! It’s a huge piece for less than SGD30. The extra sushi that we ordered was very fresh and good, especially the sardine. Maguro Don was good but some of the tuna was a little chewy. It came with a huge bowl of steaming miso soup that have prawn heads in them.
This is food that makes you happy. Saw someone ordering their futomaki which was huge and looks delicious! Would definitely be back to try more. "

" This is really amazing food. Was here for lunch, with a set menu of about 6 different sets. The sushi is so fresh, and the amount paid per set is quite worth it. Definitely come for their set lunch. Took a peek at their dinner menu as well, and just as good. A definitely good place to return. "

" Good and fresh. Value for money. Had premium sushi 14 pcs set lunch and grilled salmon set. Comes with crunchy salad and large bowl of miso soup and chawanmushi. The egg custard is flavorful.
Small outlet with 1 sushi chef and 1 serving staff, so don’t expect great service. "
