Wakiil is an independent, non-partisan online database of MPs and Senators in Somalia. It seeks to promote transparency and accountability in all aspects of public life in Somalia, especially among those who are elected to represent the Somali people.Wakiil aims to provide citizens with better knowledge of the people and processes in Somalia's political system to encourage public debate and participation towards an increasingly democratic political process with the aim of achieving one person-one vote elections. Transparency and accountability are two essential pillars of democratic governance, and this open project marks an important milestone in Somalia's path towards democracy.
