WIRES(Women in Renewable Energy Somalia) is a none profit orgnization aimed to educate,empower and employ women in the renewable energy sector, thus ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources and protecting the environment. Women are the main users of household energy in Somalia, they influence or make many family purchases related to energy, WIRES is working to introduce and present best practices that benefit Somali woman enabling them to reduce the amount of their incomes that they spend on energy. Energy efficiency and especially pricing and availability of alternative fuels continue to be a concern to women in both rural and urban areas, as women are primarily responsible for cooking and household management in Somalia
