" Pros: Good ambiance, helpful waitstaff, and variety of choices on the menu.
Cons: I chose to eat all Vegan and made the waiter aware (no fish sauce, no oyster sauce, no shrimp paste). However, I'm almost certain I detected fish sauce. I can't be 100% sure but even menu items marked as Vegan clearly show fish sauce and oyster sauce in the finer print so they have misunderstood what it means.
EDIT 14-SEP-2017: After visiting Avantika a few more times this summer, I am boosting my review to 4 stars and can highly recommend them for vegans and vegetarians alike. They've doubled down on accommodating different diets and do a fine job once you make it clear. Great service, great team. "

" Recommend going to their regular 10 course tasting events. You sample a bunch of dishes in a buffet style setting. The place is lovely and service is great! They made all the efforts to help us with our little girl (18 months), despite her getting in everyone's way.
Ginger soup is great, as are the green curry and the duck curry with grapes. "

" Best Thai on the island for sure. Excellent service, and the food is simply gorgeous. The setting is lovely - outside but sheltered from rain and wind. Good wine list, reasonably priced: what more could you want! One point, as someone else mentioned: you can chose 'mild', 'medium', or 'hot' for spicing on most things on the menu. Unless you really like hot, order one level less than you think! "

" The atmosphere is great and the food is fantastic. Our server, Gee was very friendly and helpful! Beware the spice meter. The scale is based on Thai tolerances for heat, not American. I ordered the glass noodles with beef at mild/medium, but probably should have gone for medium. My partner got the Red Curry with Beef at medium/hot, and medium would have been perfect. Even so, it was the best Red Curry he's ever eaten. I thought he was going to lick the plate. Huge wine selection and adventurous cocktails. Definitely worth the walk upstairs. "
