" “Our Blissful Holiday”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

After a very busy year for our business, we needed a restful holiday. Villas on Great Bay looked good but little did we know. It was fantastic!! Newly renovated, the villa was wonderful in every way. From the moment you walked into the front garden, you couldn't help but be relaxed and curious. There is an outside shower to wash off the sand if need be. You walk through the front door to a simply wonderfully appointed villa with everything one could imagine. A huge kitchen and dining area which is open to the living area with an amazing view of the ocean. The sliding glass doors take you out to a patio with a table for six to sit and read, have an afternoon cocktail or you can just watch the cruise ships come in. The pool was ten feet from our patio, just great to cool off in or sit out in the sun as the patio is covered (which is great even if it's raining, which only happened once while we were there, one night). The ocean is about 50 feet with a wrought iron fence and gate to the beach. By the front door are stairs, with clear glass panels, taking you to the bedrooms on the second floor. The first bedroom has a queen size bed with a en-suite bathroom and a good sized shower. Also off this bedroom is a balcony, which we sat on to watch the cruise ships leave after dark or watch the waves roll in.( a schedule for the ships is also online with Villas of Great Bay) How magnificent to see the ships so close but still over a mile away so no intrusion on you. The second bedroom had a king size bed and another en-suite bath the same as the first bedroom. These have all been redone and are excellent as well as new beds which are very comfortable. There is a TV in each bedroom and DVD as well as in the living room.

After we unpacked, we went down to the kitchen to see what there was or if there was anything we would need. I was impressed by everything there was, dishes, pots and pans, serving pieces, baking, etc. etc. You would want for nothing, even a slow cooker so if you are out for the day, dinner can be ready when you get home. We ordered some groceries online from the Villas on Great Bay website before we left and they were there waiting for us when we arrived. Cold beer and pop, cheese, crackers, etc. We also had a wonderful basket of goodies left to get us through the night if we had not ordered. There are two grocery stores within walking distance and laundry about thirty feet from the front door. How convenient!! There were lots of condiments, toilet paper, paper towel, dishwasher soap, dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, garbage bags, etc. so didn't have to worry about them either. The villas are very quiet and enjoyable if you just want to read.

Jim, the manager, was incredible with his information about the villa, surrounding area, restaurants, food shopping, etc. Jim was a tremendous help and full of knowledge of the area. He met us when we arrived and was available anytime we needed him. Jim definitely goes above and beyond!!

We were very safe there. Walked into town at least twice a day. On the beach which is wonderful and the boardwalk during the day and along the street at night.

Philipsburg is a beautiful old town with lots of shops, banks (including an RBC for our fellow Canadians), restaurants, etc.

We decided we wanted just a down holiday so didn't travel around the island. We have been to St. Maarten a couple of times before. We found the people to be very kind and although we have travelled extensively, including the Caribbean, we had such a wonderful time, we have already rented for next January.

Next time we are going to explore and take in all the culture there is to offer.

If you are looking for a place, to rest, explore, enjoy, walk, tour, etc. this is the place to go.

Lastly but by no means least, we would like to thank Louis and Claudette for renting us their sensational villa. You have a awesome place!!!

" Surfing the web we found this hidden treasure: a small nice villas complex lying on the beach of Philipsburg, the capital of Sint Maarten. Management is very friendly and always ready to help for suggestions and needs. We stayed 2 couples in one of the beachfront villas and I have to say I will never forget the relaxing view from the terrace where we used to have meals and get sun tanning. Villa was clean and comfortable, perfect for 4 people thanks to the two bedrooms layout (maybe you will have to fight for the ocean bedroom and his stunning view :-). Nearby the complex you can find a grocery store and getting a car also some big supermarkets to buy food and use the kitchen of the villa, a good way to save some money!
In addition you have wireless internet for free and you can save a lot of money using skype instead of the expensive dutch telephone rates (6 euros per minute).
The villa is directly on the beach and close to the sea, quite always calm and warm. There is also a small infinity pool and outside showers I really liked.
A place to return.
