Description

Quality Schools International (QSI) is a non-profit school organization that was founded in 1971 with the express purpose of staffing qualified, experienced, and caring teachers in private international schools around the world. Starting in Saana, Yemen, in 1971, QSI has since grown to 35+ schools in 25+ countries spanning four continents.

QSI employs a Mastery Learning approach to education ensuring success for our students. Mastery Learning is an educational model describing a focused and powerful way of organizing curriculum (what is taught) and instruction (the way it is taught) in such a manner as to provide the best opportunity for a student to not just learn but master the material that is being presented.

Here at Quality Schools International, success for all is not just our motto, it is our belief. At QSI we believe in teaching the whole child, and to that extent, we teach both our accredited curriculum and also the Seven Success Orientations: Responsibility, Kindness & Politeness, Concern for Others, Group Interaction, Aesthetic Appreciation, Independent Endeavor, and Trustworthiness. Only through a complete education can a child enjoy a successful and rich life, and here at QSI we are committed to providing just that.

QSI schools around the globe are serving families from diverse backgrounds. Primarily QSI students come from diplomatic, development, and business families, but it is the needs of the community that define the structure of each school. Schools range in size from just a small handful of students to our largest schools with over 1000 students enrolled. Quality Schools International enjoys financial support from the US Government Office of Overseas Schools and is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (USA).

Welcome to Quality Schools International!

Check out our 10 and 11 year old class performing a chorus based on a mundane activity - like brushing your teeth(after studying the Greek Chorus). Students wrote, practiced, and memorized this chorus all in one hour! They are starting rehearsal for a readers theater next week and will have a week to prepare for that. We can’t wait to see what they come up with! #adayinthelifeofqsid

The 10 and 11 year old fishbowl activity yesterday was a hit! In cultural studies, students are studying prominent figures from one of our units - they’ve conducted research, are writing essays, will be putting on a living history museum, and today got to take on the persona of their person and discuss their lives with one another inside the ‘fishbowl.’ When students were out of the fishbowl, their job was to be listening attentively and making connections between leaders in the bowl and themselves (as their leaders). #adayinthelifeofqsid

So this happened last week! Our 10 and 11 year old class completely knocked off the socks of teachers, family members, and friends of QSID by hosting and putting on the first ever QSID Disability Expo. In addition to our QSID Community, students invited Dr. Prathiba Mehta - the resident representative in Tajikistan for the UN development program, and she came, despite the fact that it was her BIRTHDAY! Thank you again, Dr. Mehta, for being our special guest. Students were poised and focused while educating participants with their interactive and fun presentations. We are grateful to all who helped make this event happen! And kudos to our 10 and 11 year olds; when you put your mind to something - you really do it 100%. #adayinthelifeofqsid

We are headed to relax for Fall break...but first, we want to celebrate one of our nine year olds with you! • • This 9 year old student presented her Published Article Writing on, “How to make items out of Plastic bag.” •... • In the her own words, “My mom told me that we had too many plastic bags and that we had to reuse them all so that’s where I got all the idea from and this is also another way to have fun.” • • Pictured, you can see a jump rope she made from old plastic bags! As apart of her article, she also shared how to engineer this innovative toy:

•You will need scissors, tape, and a plastic bag. •Cut the top part of your plastic bag and your bottom part to then open them, “like if you are putting your clothes on”. After that happened, put the three parts together stick it with tape and do a braid so it’s strong enough so it does not break. If it’s not long enough, do the same proses you did before then tie it to the braid and keep doing the braid and so on, then stick the end with tape and your finally done! • • We love seeing global citizenship, writing, and STEM skills all come together in one project. GREAT WORK NINE YEAR OLDS! #adayinthelifepfqsid
