The Lloyd Best Institute of the Caribbean is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to realizing the potential of the Caribbean. It takes its name from its founder, Lloyd Best, and is guided in its mission by the title of his seminal work, "Independent Thought and Caribbean Freedom".When it was founded in 1977, our organization was called the Trinidad and Tobago Institute of the West Indies. Since then, it has been renamed twice: First, to the Lloyd Best Institute of the West Indies in 2007, and then to the Lloyd Best Institute of the Caribbean in 2019.
