Visual Aided Stories (VAS) is a youth-led creative enterprise using arts, technology and storytelling as tools for social change. Through art, the initiative celebrates and preserves the history and culture of Pan Africanism, raises awareness on important social issues and showcases local talent. Through our arts program "PAMA" (Pan African Mural Approach)- supported by Mastercard Foundation, we have been able to identify talent and organizations in the creative industry (such as creative directors and local street artists) and provide them with the tools and resources needed to create and showcase murals in both public and digital spaces. Our key activities in the arts program (Pan African Mural Approach) include:1. Providing a collaborative platform/ shared work space- "VAS Hub" where creatives/talented youth can actively engage, hold dialogues and form partnerships following a community-based approach. The hub hosts the collaborative process and dialogues for the development of mural concepts and digital artworks. 2. Coordinating and facilitating workshops on professional skills such as personal branding and project management, complying with the law, working with partners in the wider ecosystem and making international contacts. Equally offering mentorship program, professional mural training and shadowing opportunities on ground. 3. Facilitating community engagement- engaging communities on the type of issues affecting them and identifying mural concepts and elements that should be incorporated or painted in our mural artworks. (Community input) 4. Public Installations. Painting murals. 5. Community dialogues to interpret murals. 6. Digital arm- increasing visibility of the art campaign and market share of participating artists. Achieved through social media, website and traditional media platforms like radio and newspaper.
