" Hello to you all,
My name is Clara and my husband’s name is Simone. We want to share our experience in a surrogacy program with the La Vita Nova clinic, which is in Ukraine. I got pregnant just once, and the whole thing was really tragic. It was five years ago when we expected our first child – a boy. As I was in my eighth month, my husband and myself had a car accident. It took me just a moment to lose my child and the slightest hope to become mother sometime. They had my uterus removed. I was in depression for nearly a year. This was a really hard time for both of us. But the life goes on and we must move along with it, despite everything. It occurred to me that I and my husband began to become isolated from each other. Whenever he told me a story of someone who had a child born, I got hysterical and blamed him of intentionally hurting me while knowing that my wounds were not still healed. That had to be stopped somehow. I did realize that we might have been close to divorce, but I did not want to lose my husband and had our family destroyed. I began searching for an alternative way, that is getting familiar with the subject of surrogacy. I tried to find out what kind of service it was, which countries can provide it, how much it costs. First, Simone opposed this idea. He just had no belief in it. Indeed, surrogacy is forbidden in Austria. Where should this service be looked for? What will happen to a child? What if it will not work? The whole program is quite expensive. I managed to persuade the husband into giving us a chance – to make just one attempt to become parents. I found quite a number of clinics and agencies dealing with surrogacy in many world countries. They were Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Cyprus… I wrote letters to them all and waited for their answers. It was important for me to find a solution that would assure adequate quality for a fair price. We do not belong to a category of very rich people, and, hence, the financial aspect prevailed. As a result of long-time correspondence, we traveled to a quite unfamiliar place of Kharkov, Ukraine. I am still grateful to Simone. Having no belief, he finally agreed to travel to, as he said, “the middle of nowhere”. We were met at the airport, as had been agreed. We stayed at a hotel near the head office of the “La Vita Nova” clinic. Kharkov turned out to be quite a large city where there was absolutely nothing to get scared of. We planned to stay in Kharkov for three days. The first meeting proved to be much more tense for Simone than for myself. He kept asking questions. He wanted guarantees. Naturally, we all look for guarantees and reliability. Mrs. Liudmila, the director, told us that one day later we would have a chance to speak to a family couple from Norway who had started their second program with La Vita Nova and its results were successful again. They just had their second child born and waited for the legal paperwork for the embassy to be finished. It was also suggested that we meet a surrogate mother whom we seemed to like. Besides, Liudmila gave us contacts of some other former successful clients who did not mind sharing their experience with ourselves. In the evening Simone and myself sent letters to their e-mails. On our second day we were even more busy. We did meet the Norwegian couple. As a result of their fist program, they had a girl born. Their daughter was 3-year- old already. We could see her. She was a beautiful child. We spoke English to these people directly, i.e. without an interpreter. They shared all their fears and worries, which they had experienced in the course of their first program. We had a very nice conversation. Their final advice was as follows: “Don’t be afraid of anything. Start your program without a shadow of doubt. Then everything will work fine! If you stay hesitant and unsure of the result, you will never win.” Naturally, I could keep writing to describe all our emotions and all which was happening to us at the time. But it’s not so important. The important thing is that we did become PARENTS! We had a daughter born! "
