Puppet theatre in Uzhgorod was founded in 1980. First director was Volodymyr Lichtey and art director - Mykola Voloshchyn. During the next years theatre collected many talented professionals and finally moved to the new building on Teatralna sq. 8. in 1988.

1990 - on the initiative of second director Oleksandr Turyanytsya first International festival of puppet theaters "Interlyalka" was held for the first time.

2005 - theatre change its name to "Bavka" puppet theatre.

Now Transcarpathian puppet theatre "Bavka" is one of the best-known and respectable puppet theatres of Ukraine. Its fame spreads not only over territory of Ukraine, but it is recognized in a lot of European countries. Theatre takes part regularly in various international festivals held in Ukraine and in the other countries. Our theatre is the winner of many awards and grants.

It is the "heart of art" in Transcarpathian region, every performance meets warm and thankful reception from publics. Welcome!
