Vascular Disease...
How could it affect me?
Patients have symptoms of vascular disease depending on which arteries in the body are being blocked. The blockage of arteries that feed the brain can cause mini-strokes or permanent strokes. Circulatory problems of the upper extremities can cause numbness, discoloration, or pain in the arms. Blockages to arteries in the intestine can result in weight loss or pain when eating. Kidney artery blockages can result in kidney failure or elevated blood pressure. Leg artery blockages are manifested by pain on walking or discoloration in the feet or toes that may not be apparent without exercise. In addition, enlargement of the arteries (called aneurysms) in the abdomen may cause pain and rupture.
