In 1984 a small group of visionary Latino voiced their concerns regarding the lack of a Latino Cultural presence on campus which would reflect their Latino heritage and support the needs of Latino staff, faculty and students, This visionary group formed what is now named the Chicano Latino Staff and Faculty Association.
CLSFA's Statement of purpose is to:
1. Advocate and support opportunities for Latino/Latina students, faculty and staff at CSUEB.
2. Increase student retention and graduation rates.
3. Increase opportunities for faculty and staff to advance to administrative and policy making positions.
4. reflect the Latino/Latina experience throughout the curriculum.
5. Improve linkages with service to the Latino/Latina community.
