About Farewell Fishing

Fishing is a way of life not just a hobby. I live in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains with my wife. This is my official fishing page.

Description

My name is Jordan Farewell. I am 24 years old and live in Northern California in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, close to Lake Tahoe. I am married to my beautiful wife Hannah. Besides being an avid fisherman I also love to hunt, rock climb, make custom fishing rods, rock-crawl, scuba diving (PADI certified), abalone diving, spearfishing, free diving and anything else that has anything to do with the outdoors and water I most likely enjoy it.
My passion for fishing started when I was 3 or 4 with my grandpa simply with a bobber and a worm. He taught me not only a love for fishing but also for the fish I was catching. For a short time I moved on to bass fishing with my uncle. Flipping soft baits, crank baits, poppers and all the other bass shenanigans on the delta were my building blocks. Eventually during high school I was introduced to my current fishing partner and mentor, Bill who shared his passion of chasing trophy brown trout. Here is where I fully began to love the fish and the ecosystem connected to them. I began learning everything from boats, lures, and down riggers to the bait the fish were eating, habitat structure and seasons.
After getting married this passion for the water was part of a reason we ended up moving to Hawaii for a few years. Fishing in the ocean for fish larger than me was a whole new animal. I started out kayak fishing and finally started to land big Pelagic fish. Through all my research and talking to many locals I came into connection with a local sport fishing tackle shop and as a deckhand for a charter boat. I learned respect for fish and to catch Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Ono, Ahi, GT’s, spearfish, striped Marlin and more. Since then I have been practicing and teaching others how to be a conservative fisherman.
Since moving back to Alta, California I have customized my own 12-foot fishing boat to hunt for trophy brown trout and trophy lake trout in the lakes surrounding my home. My future is hoping to include opening a part time guide service on the Sierra Nevada Mountain Lakes.
