Kids on Stage Performing Arts Group was created by Sue Brumet in 1984 to give young dancers in Amador and surrounding counties an opportunity to perform in their communities and hone their skills as dancers and artists. Although affiliated with Sue Brumet’s dance studio in Sutter Creek, Kids On Stage was formed as a separate group for children interested in learning the art of performing… quick costume changes and all! For the last few decades, generations of children have performed as cast members of Kids On Stage; delighting audiences with Broadway numbers from classic musicals like Gypsy, The Pajama Game, and Anything Goes. Over the years the group appeared at the Amador County Fair, school assemblies, nursing homes, and other venues throughout Amador County. While these children learned to love a standing ovation, they also learned important lessons about responsibility, work ethic, team building, and the history of American musical theater.

The mission of Kids On Stage is to provide a safe, encouraging environment where children between the ages of 7 and18 years old can learn the craft of performance art while also providing arts entertainment to our local community. The opportunity to provide this enriching program at no cost to local families gives our rural kids a fair chance at the type of arts education that their urban peers may have access to.
