At Farmington Valley Dermatology and Surgery, we believe in collaboration between physician and patients in addressing the medical needs of our community. We hope to establish lasting caring relationships with patient of our new practice, anticipated to open in August 2014.

Dermatology truly is a specialty where we are lucky enough to know the entire families, and address their age appropriate medical concerns. Where teenagers benefit from early treatment of acne, avoiding complications of blemishes and scars, adults can take advantage of our personalized aesthetic services to address concerns regarding normal aging (sometimes enhanced by sun exposure over life time!) manifesting as skin texture changes, fine lines as well as deeper hollowing (volume loss), pigmentation problems, broken blood vessels, etc.

The seniors, too, benefit from detailed skin cancer screenings and check of older moles as well as new skin growths. Early intervention is of paramount importance in effective management of pre-cancerous changes of skin, as well as fully evolved skin cancers.

Those with especially fair skin, history of excessive sun exposure over life time, family history of skin cancers (particularly Melanoma), or family history of atypical moles are particularly at risk. Sun protection utilizing sunscreens, protective clothing and sun avoidance are key to minimize medical and cosmetic concerns of the skin. Sun protection can never start too early, however it is never too late to improve our health habits either!

I addition to general and cosmetic dermatology, we also offer care for complex medical dermatology problems such as autoimmune issues of the skin and hair, as well as cutaneous lymphomas, and blistering diseases of the skin and mucosa.

Then, of course, in preparation of special events such as weddings, landmark birthdays, and reunions, we can create custom aesthetic packages, including individual procedures or combination of treatments, such as: chemical peels, lasers, neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) for fine line, and fillers (Radiesse, Perlane, Juvederm, Sculptra and Voluma) for facial hollows. We recommend an initial consultation to discuss these options, at least a few months prior to the planned event.
