Description

The Eye Care Registry is an organized system for the collection, storage, retrieval, analysis and dissemination of information on individual patients treated by practices reporting into it.

Like registries in other fields, the Eye Care Registry can be used to track patient trends and trends in ocular diseases as well as the use of specific management approaches to treat ocular diseases and other conditions.

The Eye Care Registry collects individual patient data from multiple sources, including member practice EHRs and hospital discharge summaries. The goal is to provide our member practices with the best possible data—data they can use to demonstrate the value of their contributions to a coordinated care team.

Each year, reimbursements from insurance and vision coverage plans are eroding. If this continues, it will make it more difficult for the independent eye care provider to survive. This is especially evident for those practices with a significant Medicare Advantage base.

Outcomes analysis will give providers the necessary data to effectively influence the development of the emerging delivery and reimbursement systems. This information is vital if eye care practitioners hope to stay on provider panels and establish themselves as an important pat of their patients’ coordinated care teams.

The future of health care delivery in the U.S. will be data driven. The Eye Care Registry will help its member doctors prepare for the future.
