" Now I understand why this company has a 1.5 star and I wouldn't even give them that. My family arrived in Orlando, FL on the afternoon of thanksgiving for a family trip. Long story short we waited in line for over 45 minutes (when I say waited in line I mean we were the next customer) with no representatives at the desk at all!! Just 2 customers standing there looking around. Finally got called up only to have the 2 rudest gentlemen working for your company. I asked a simple question.. " why is everything taking so long" the employees response "who do you think you are." Excuse me, I am a paying customer. I never experience something like this before. Do not be in the customer service industry if you cannot properly communicate. I will never do business with this company again or any other company associated with them including Avis who owns them. Funny thing is I wasn't the only one, other customers and even employees of other car rental places said the samething about Payless Car. Advice to anyone traveling.. go with someone else even if you need to spend more, not worth the hassle, time, and frustration. I have always been a enterprise customer and now I know why... only reason we went with Payless because my mother had points to use through Avis. NEVER AGAIN. And the name "Payless" is a scam anyway - every other rental place was within $20-$30 less or more. Side note - we even cancelled our rental with Payless. "

" Landed to Orlando to find out they won’t allow our insurance company to cover the cost of the insurance. They will collect their money right away if anything happens. They will also charge you extra for insurance. That’s not what was told to us when you call the 1800 number. We brought our insurance card and the guy at the front desk said “we don’t take this, we work different here”. Terrible service at the front desk! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Hidden fees. We ended up getting another company. "

" Reserved car on line for $219.00 (all taxes included) for 5 days, When I arrived to pick up the vehicle the bill changed to $240.00, they claimed the proper taxes weren't applied (Not my fault, it was your web site that gave me the quote) I paid the extra money. They also tried to upsell me on there insurance but when I refused the wanted my Allstate policy number and expiration date. I had to call my agent to comply which took an additional 20 minutes. (I called the previous day to verify my car reservation and they never informed me I needed that information).
They also stated, bring the car back with 3/4 of a tank of gas(which I did) but when I returned the vehicle the agent told me there wasn't enough gas in the tank so they charged my credit card an additional $13.50 for 2 gallons of gas...
I WILL NEVER USE THE COMPANY AGAIN. WHEN THEY PULL THIS S**T THEY ACTUALLY LOOSE CUSTOMERS, "

" Be careful when renting from here, the salesmen will try to push as many additional fees on you as possible. The gentleman helping me asked what kind of car I drove back home, and when I told him, he said he had the exact same car on hand and that he was going to put me on it. I asked him if there was an upgrade fee and he said no. After denying all the additional insurance he wanted to pile up on me, he hands me the bill for me to sign off on, and I immediately noticed the price difference from the "no charge" upgrade. I told him HE had said there weren't any additional upgrade fees, and he tried to write it off as taxes, so I took out my phone and calculated the taxes for him to show him I wasn't a moron. He caved and dropped it down to the original rate without downgrading the car, so at least there's that. Car return was a snap. "

" If I could give this business zero stars I would. Their customer service is terrible. I have used them before and never had a problem but this time was atrocious. I had a million different forms of ID to prove that my license in my maiden name and my credit card in my married name was, in fact, ME. They would not put through my reservation and give me the car. Ana, the woman at the counter, was beyond rude and basically said, "too bad" when I showed her all my different identifications. NEVER again. I went two counters down to Advantage Rental Car at MCO and they were amazing. Don't deal with these incompetent fools. "

" The worst, I wish I had read any of this reviews before, as I wait for already 50 minutes and losing valuable at my destination the person at the counter just tell me to wait with no result just wondering how much lo ger this is gonna take, besides that I reserved a spacious SUV and now all they have available is the smallest SUV with no option unless I upgrade to a bigger one, to make it worse the amount of money i Reserved it for, now doubles they added all kind of fees to make sure that rates goes as high as heaven, I just wish this ends soon as I will never come back to this place in my life, when I came to line with no one waiting I thought I was lucky while the other rent cars places are packed, now I understand why no body do business with this disaster. "

" Made a reservation for a full size car rental. Was quoted $182.78. I found it to be a reasonable quote until I arrived to pick up the rental. When I arrive in Orlando, I'm told by the Payless representative that the full sized car that I had requested was not available. I then was offered an economy sized car. When I told the representative that we are a family of five, she told me that we might fit a bit uncomfortable and that our two luggage bags might not fit. There is where she told me that I can upgrade to an SUV. The normal upgrade would be an additional $30 a day but that she can give it to me for half the price. I was really hesitant about the upgrade but I felt as if though I was placed between a rock and a hard place. It was either have my family sitting in a car very uncomfortably or having to upgrade (not by choice) to a more roomy vehicle. I was also told that I had to option of using their gas option program or filling up the tank before returning the car. I told her that I didn't want that option and that I would return the vehicle with a full tank. She told me not to worry about it because the money would be refunded once I returned the vehicle with a full tank. I was never told that I had to see the customer service rep at the counter to have my money refunded. I ended up paying $430.30 after all was said and done. When I called to find out where my refund was, I was told my the customer service rep that upon further review of my complaint, I was not eligible for a refund because I was my choice to upgrade and that I had to show proof of receipt that I had filled up the tank. Once they scan the vehicle in the terminal it shows that the vehicle was returned with a full tank. To them that was not acceptable and just wanted to hang up the phone. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told that the supervisor was in a meeting. I ask to speak with a manager and was told that there was none available. If I would have known that I was going to pay this much for a rental and get hassled for it I would have gone somewhere else. I AM NEVER RENTING A CAR FROM PAYLESS CAR RENTAL AGAIN. TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THE SERVICE AND ALL THE HIDDEN FEES THEY DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT. Since Payless Car Rental did not want to help me, I'm taking this to social media and the news media. People need to know about these thieves on how they rip people off. NOT EVEN WORTH THE ONE STAR RATING. "

" Picked up car at the Orlando airport. The employee was strongly urging me to upgrade to a mid-size as they did not believe my luggage would fit in the economy sized car (even though I had one carry on suitcase and a backpack). I was specifically told that I could not decline roadside assistance, I asked several times why I could not decline this coverage and was told that it is just on every contract and that it couldn’t be removed. I was charged for pre-paid gas even though I was not told about it, I found out as I returned the car with a full tank of gas. They did reverse this charge, but only after I waited in line for 20 minutes at a customer service desk. Just a completely unethical business model, it is worth a few more dollars a day to rent from a different company. "
