IMPOWER Atlanta, Inc., founded in 2004 as The Roosevelt House, Inc., provides resources and support services to single mothers and youth in metro Atlanta through mentoring, life skills training, workforce development, financial literacy, housing education, and college access programs. With the original mission of providing housing for single mothers recovering from drug addiction and their children, the organization moved in a new direction in 2010 with the purpose of providing the exposure and resources needed to motivate youth to be their absolute best, beginning with excellence through education. In 2016, we have further expanded our mission to include a two-generational approach, creating opportunities that strengthen single mothers in the areas of education, employment, entrepreneurship and parental support to remove barriers that interfere with their ability to obtain financial security, while continuing to provide youth programs that promote self development and empowerment though mentoring and enhancement of the educational experience through college readiness and career preparation.
