VMI Hawaii has been established with the goal to create as many employment pathways as possible. The way it does this is by partnering up with businesses to create learning opportunities for individuals to learn and gain highly employable skills. To date we have employment pathways in the culinary fields, event management, textile arts, and recreation. We also specialize in increasing the digital literacy of individuals.
We have an innovative learning model that allows us to maximize our results in increasing digital literacy. We cater to a wide variety of individual learning levels. VMI has utilized it's on staff knowledge that has taken courses in Learning Creative Learning given by M.I.T. and Creative Computing thru Harvard's graduate school of education. Along the vast spectrum of academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, more commonly referred to as S.T.E.M., we offer skill development in digital basics to advance subjects which include graphic designs, animation, video editing, robotics, music development, mobile app building and video game creation.

The model for creating employment pathways is designed to give individuals experience while learning practical skills. Many employment offers require job experience & education. Many individuals because of there level of education find it difficult to find employment and therefore are without experience. We take on inexperience individuals and work with them in finding a learning pathway that will work for them. After finding a pathway that they want, we then have other learning components that will increase their chances to permanent employment opportunities.

The businesses affiliated with VMI Hawaii are known as employment learning pathways. We refer to them as institutes. An institute is defined as: "a society or organization having a particular object or common factor, especially a scientific, educational, or social one". Each institute has committed in this initiative to further grow as many individuals as possible to give them the tools they need to find future employment. The 'common factor' between all affiliated businesses is the mission statement of VMI Hawaii.
