KMRRRG currently provides professional liability coverage for over 450 UofL faculty physicians, the University Hospital - Center for Women and Infants, and the students, residents, and fellows of the University of Louisville School of Medicine and School of Dentistry.

Kentuckiana Medical Reciprocal Risk Retention Group (KMRRRG) was originally formed as a stock risk retention group under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, known as Kentuckiana Medical Risk Retention Group and Insurance Company, Inc.(KMRRG). KMRRG was incorporated on December 18, 2003 and was issued a Certificate of Authority permitting it to transact business of a captive insurance company on December 24, 2003. KMRRG provided claims-made professional liability coverage to Kentucky and Indiana medical professionals and University of Louisville Hospital.

On June 22, 2004, KMRRG converted to a reciprocal risk retention group, at which time the Company changed its name to Kentuckiana Medical Reciprocal Risk Retention Group. KMRRRG received a new Certificate of Authority on June 22, 2004 from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. KMRRRG provides professional liability coverage to its members on a claims-made basis.

According to the Kentucky Department of Insurance, KMRRRG is the largest of the 105 captives licensed in Kentucky.
