Please welcome Dr. Yashpal Modi to the T.J. Regional Health team. Dr. Modi specializes in oncology and hematology and attended medical school at Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. He completed his residency and fellowship in hematology and oncology at Seton Hall University School of Health and Medical Sciences.

Dr. Modi has a passion for oncology and states, “it is an exciting time as lots of new medicines are coming due to extensive research that is ...changing the lives of many patients.” He is excited to be joining Dr. Goodin, Melanie Isbell, APRN and the rest of the Oncology team. He will be located at the T.J. Health Pavilion.

Dr. Modi and his wife, Dipa, have a daughter, Diya, who is seven years old. They are excited about moving to this area due to the close proximity to Nashville and Louisville, and to be close to family and friends in near areas. He enjoys reading and traveling. It was evident that Dr. Modi was a perfect fit for our organization as he exhibits excellent communication skills with patients and their families, something very important in healthcare and especially to those in oncology. He was ranked among the top 1% in the nation during his Oncology and Hematology Board exam.

Area Physicians Recognized

During the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians (KAFP) 65th Annual Scientific Assembly Awards Banquet earlier this month, three local physicians were recognized by the KAFP for their work in leadership, academics, and service. Dr. William C. Thornbury was installed as President of the KAFP after having served a year as President-Elect of the organization. Dr. Thornbury recognized many within the audience for helping to make this recognition possi...ble. Dr. Rebecca Leavitt, a first year resident of the University of Louisville/Glasgow Family Medicine Residency (ULGFMR) received first prize for her poster on Sepsis, which is a severe condition often with fatal results if not identified early. Facilitating Dr. Leavitt’s work was ULGFMR Faculty Member, Dr. Eric Fisher. Dr. Brent Wright received the KAFP’s Distinguished Service Award for his work in professional advocacy for Family Physicians throughout the state of Kentucky. Dr. Wright recognized many within the audience who supported his advocacy work and served as mentors. The KAFP is the state of Kentucky’s professional association for Family Physicians, serving approximately 850 members throughout the Commonwealth.
