I’ve got these 2 antique pine pieces- this totally fabulous fat side chest of drawers is early and seen it’s share of hard use- but the patina and color make up for a mult...itude of sins. The small antique pine table with bread board ends is a sweet smaller size- perfect end table or bedside piece- it’s been in every room of my house at one time or another. It has a small burn mark from a previous life that is shaped like a small heart- I love that mark. The mid size shipping trunk has chains closure and is in great shape. The 2 old doors have great old paint and look great with pretty much anything. The 2 giant antique European olive harvest buckets are original- and have housed a Christmas tree or 2. It’s Monday again y’all. I hope you had a lovely Easter. 🌷I’m starting my busy week with an amazing find from this weekend- this gallery wall! There’s a weird space in my dining room behind my husband’s chair with a light switch snack in the middle. I’ve been trying and moving things in this spot for 15 years I swear! Apparently, I was just waiting for this! I found this entire set of framed antique map sections - all NH counties cut from an 1850’s map and framed in antique f...rames! Can you believe the luck? The color and patina of the map are perfect- and the simple shapes and frames add a modern twist. I love my new wall! Here’s a sneak peek of my DIY kitchen make over- I’m still working on the details- but I can say finally I’m happy with the counters! I’ve got the long counter with the sink left to do- but I thought I’d show you all the progress. In this area I’ve never had an actual cabinet- always was an antique piece that changed over the years- but I love having this cabinet unit installed with a full counter top. We kept all the original cabinets on the top, and we used stock cabinets f...rom Home Depot and 2 by 8’s and 10’s of basic pine boards for the counters. I’m doing it friends- I’m letting go of our blue tufted couch. It’s gorgeous and has been the star of some beautiful pics- but I’ve been itching to do something different- so I’m going to! It’s in excellent condition. It’s 3 cushions, tufted back and arms and also across the bottom front. Blue leather, with distinct shading and poly cushions- it’s quite firm. The couch is approximately 90” wide, 35” deep and 31” high. It has an interesting feature in that it comes apart for e...asy moving into tight spaces. The arms come off, and lock on. It’s not noticeable when all together. $650 The extra long body pillow (down filled) in antique European grain sack is available to go with- at $249. Happy Thursday my friends! I love Thursdays~ because that means it’s almost Friday- and that means whatever I’ve been trying to get through this week is almost accomplished. I tend to focus on things a week at a time. I don’t really like to make plans or obligations beyond that because I never know what I’ll feel like. I usually only like the idea of plans before I make them- because after I do I’m immediately thinking “do I really want to do (whatever it is I agreed to)?” Mo...st of the time the answer is no. People often say things to me that I assume are meant kindly but sound a lot like “you really should change yourself and be more (...whatever).” I try to ignore it- I’m cool with who I am. I feel like the day I decided I was ok just being myself was the day I truly became an adult. I’ve been teaching my kids that since they were old enough to comprehend- I’m hoping I’ve saved them a lot of years of struggle. The thing is- your life is exactly that- yours. You don’t owe anyone becoming someone else to please them. Almost everything in your life will try to change you in some way, mold you into someone else’s expectation or idea of what’s normal. Try not to be bothered by what others think of your life or your choices. There are no prizes in the end for meeting other people’s expectations. RESIST the urge to conform. Resist the urge to feel bad that your aren’t something that you probably weren’t meant to be anyway. You are good the way you are. Well, that’s it for my totally unsolicited life advice for today. I could not wait till tomorrow to share this insanely awesome antique bench. Oh. My. Goodness. It’s sooo good. I’ve been working on its previous owners for a while- and they were finally ready to part with it. It had been in the family for generations- and eventually came to America when the family emigrated here from Hungary. It apparently had survived a devastating fire at one point- and even has the scotch marks on the bottom as a reminder. (It’s on the complete underside-... and surface only) This bench is in its original black paint and has that patina that no amount of skill can fake. The seat lifts up for storage. Arm to arm it measures 80”, it’s 37” tall at the back and 19” deep. SOLD THANK YOU Good afternoon my friends- it’s “New England Spring” today which means freezing cold and grey. And rain. Not my favorite weather guys- at all. Upside today was this chaise rescue. Oh my goodness all those turned legs and cage bottom and gentle curves - totally got my mind going. I’ve never seen one like this actually- the base is wonderful! It’s amazingly sturdy and strong for its age- and the mat caning on the base was redone by a past owner- it’s got some di...scoloration and a stain- but it’s intact. I was thinking to stain the caning dark to blend the stain in- but then I thought it’s not really necessary- and the light tone is great. Add some oversized pillows and a throw and voila! You can’t see the stain anyway. 😁 Swipe to check out the details. SOLD THANK YOU Hey y’all! It’s been a crazy few days with some family stuff- but I got home to find Greg had worked some magic on this antique pine dining table we recently found! It was made in England, and came over with a family years back. It was a bit tired from years of service~ (And a bunch of sons eating at it) but the incredible thickness of the top allowed for some sanding and buffing - and the results are gorgeous! This guy is smaller sized- perfect for a smaller ...kitchen or even use as a desk. It’s got that sweet drawer on the end too. We decided to have an impromptu picnic in the living room today- it’s just too pretty to not enjoy. My hand stitched cotton and linen cube ottomans are perfect seating rolled up to the table! Pretty much rarely sat in- it has some minor fading, and 2 tiny spots on the ottoman- but otherwise- it’s gorgeous. Deep navy leather.
