" My doctor left this practice, I received absolutely no advance notice of this in the form of a letter and email or anything. Have called to find out who will be taking care of my health care, no one can tell me anything. Asked who my emergency room records have gone to as they have been forwarded Kansas City Internal Medicine. The receptionist on the phone told me that just because records were coming to them doesn't mean that any doctor was seeing them. She then told me I was free to pick another doctor there as long as they were accepting new patients and I could wait for their first new patient appointment. Let her know that I needed in emergency room follow up visit and am to be seen sooner. She told me that's not the way it works. Does this count as medical abandonment? If not it really must come close.

*Edit-Ahhh, they have filed for bankruptcy and closed. 99% of doctors left. That was a long time coming. "

" Every time you call you have to wait forever to get a hold of anyone. Then they transfer you to an answering machine. My doctor told me about a concern and the nurse never even got back with me about it. I still have not been able to get back in touch with the doctor or nurse about my situation. Terrible practice. " I'd seen Dr Wendland for several years and had no problems. Dr Bequette was taking his patients. I'd seen Dr Wendland approximately 6 months earlier when I receive a call from my pharmacy. Dr Bequette won't refill my levothroxine. I called the office and told them that I'd seen Dr Wendland six months prior to this call. That's when I was told that Dr Bequette would not refill prescriptions until she'd seen me. I wouldn't be able to see her for 3 months, even if I'd agreed to a cash visit. I talked to her medical assistant, Kathy who assured me she would continue to refill my prescriptions. None of the prescriptions I might add are for controlled substances. Kathy was always very nice so she does deserve five stars. I was scheduled for my next annual physical and asked about the visit being covered when I scheduled. I was told it would be. When I received my reminder call, I checked with my insurance and this would have been a cash visit. I'd told them that any annual visits had to be scheduled at least a year apart. I called and rescheduled with Dr Bequette. I received a call, a few weeks later and was told I had to be rescheduled; Dr Bequette would not be in the office on the day I'd scheduled my physical. I had another appointment made when my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The oncologist was able to see him immediately, but my annual physical was scheduled at the same time my husband would see his oncologist for the first time. Obviously, I wanted to be with my husband when he saw his oncologist for the first time. I rescheduled and was, once again contacted and told that Dr Bequette would be out of the office on the day I'd scheduled my annual physical and I needed to reschedule. I rescheduled my appt for July and I'm contacted by my pharmacy that, once again Dr Bequette would not fill my medicine. Even though I had an appt scheduled, I was told that I'd have to come in and pay cash to see a nurse. I'd still have to come in a month later and see Dr Bequette. I'm married to a physician and I work with nurse clinicians. In my experience, I've not found a nurse clinicians to be qualified for more than a blood pressure check or provide minimal and well supervised medical care. If I have a sore throat, that's one thing, but I'm not going to pay to see a nurse when I'm scheduled to see Dr Bequette in five weeks Since I have a mass in my breast, I am definitely not comfortable seeing a nurse. My husband told me that he wanted me seen by a physician, not a nurse. When the pharmacy called on a Monday, letting me know that this doctor refused to refill my prescription, I called the office. I did not receive a call back until Friday afternoon. The woman who called was was quite rude. She told me I'd cancelled several times. I cancelled once. They'd cancelled several times. This medical assistant (I assume that's her job) seemed delighted to upset me, and when I didn't take the bait, she hung up on me. KCIM has no problems with patients unless they have to see or talk to them. Patients really annoy them if they have to be seen or (God forbid) called regarding a medical problem. I've found another PCP who practices on a cash basis. I have no problems paying $1600/year if I know I'll be seeing a good and proactive physician. They don't employ nurses. Good PCPs are going to a cash practice and they can do this because their medical care and knowledge base can support a cash practice. I have an advanced degree and am a healthcare provider. I have no patience for physicians who give no notice before refusing to fill medicine, especially medication that a patient should not abruptly stop taking and medical assistants, who don't need more than a GED giving me medical advice. It's also aggravating that the MA's call themselves nurses. When I asked to speak to one of the doctor's medical assistants, they rudely said "you mean the doctor's nurse". They need to remember that the state medical board takes "practicing medicine without a license" very seriously. They're not nurses, they're medical assistants. "
