The name Butterfly Naturals represents our journeys in accepting, learning and loving our natural hair textures. Similar to the development of a butterfly, once allowed to go through its struggle to break through its cocoon, a butterfly's strength is in its struggle. "A butterfly struggles sometimes for hours to break free. If someone tries to help the butterfly by cutting the cocoon, the insect will emerge but will not be able to fly and will die quickly because the struggle itself opens the door to freedom of flight." Our natural hair represents freedom! In the struggle of learning our hair, we may try many products and styles. Eventually we learn what works for our hair and learn to love our hair with full acceptance. If this process is interrupted early in life such as with relaxers or other damaging techniques, that promise managebility, in the end many of us kill our self acceptance and love for our God-given natural hair causing us to fear going back to where we began. Butterfly Naturals is all about going back to the beginning: teaching and encouraging women and children to love their kinky curly hair!
