Chinese Mei Society is one of New York University's longest running Asian cultural student organizations. Since 1988, Chinese Mei Society has actively promoted Chinese and Chinese-American culture by hosting events that celebrate our heritage in both a local and an international capacity. We have become one of the most prominent Asian cultural clubs on campus through successful engagement with the NYU community.
Our name originates from the Chinese character “梅,” or plum blossoms, hardy flowers that represent resilience, hope, and virtue as they blossom during even the harshest winters. Our founders hoped that like our namesake flower, Chinese culture would blossom and shine at NYU, finding its niche in an increasingly global university.
