Special Inspections are conducted during the construction process to verify that work is being done in accordance to approved plans and specifications. These inspections are required prior to closing out a project and getting a DOB sign off. Before 05/13/2013, any Professional Engineer or Registered Architect could conduct these inspections. However, a new rule by NYCDOB has been passed which now requires that Special Inspections must be performed by a registered Special Inspection Agency.
