For the fourth year in a row, TSA high school students grades 9-12 have worked to bring children's books to the kids passing through a local family shelter. Students in Justin Longacre's Creative Writing class teamed up with visual art students in Lydia Horvath's Studio 1 and Studio 2D classes to create an edition of handmade books which were sold at Kaleidoscope and other local events. The money raised (over $500 this year!) was used to buy kids' books for Beach House Family... Shelter. This year's collaborative handmade book featured the theme "Home". The writing students wrote poems, which they set and printed on a letterpress. Visual art students created woodcut prints to go with the poems. Students worked together to hand-bind the books - the process takes an entire school year to complete. Look for our 5th book next year at Kaleidoscope 2020!
