About Soaring Club of Houston

Promote and encourage safe participation in soaring and gliding near Houston Texas

Tags

Description

The Soaring Club of Houston is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with an educational outreach program that works closely with the Civil Air Patrol.

We are financially healthy - our land and most of our assets fully paid for - and a sizable cash cushion to deal with emergencies.

We have 180 members - SCOH is the 4th largest glider club in the US. The large membership reduces the frequency of duty rotation. SCOH has a very democratic, participatory club with the leadership shared by a large group of elected leaders and specialty “chiefs”.

SCOH is an active chapter of the Soaring Society of America.

Members are able to schedule club gliders online - weeks in advance.

We are a friendly bunch - come on out and visit us!

Just a reminder that the big club BBQ will be at your club tonight! We have over 60 confirmed on the RSVP list but had a couple of cancellations yesterday so if you’d like to join us, just bring a side dish or dessert to share. Larry and Kim Danforth will be bringing smoked pulled pork, brisket and turkey and I think everyone remembers how good it was last year so you don’t want to miss out! We’ll begin snacking in the afternoon and I suspect dinner will be served at around 7pm.

It looks like a pretty day to come meet other club members and their spouses, kids and friends. After the flying is over, I suspect some will be flying their drones and RCs, swimming in the pool and throwing a football or frisbee.

Hope to see everyone there this afternoon!
