The goal of the Memphis Masterworks Chorus is to present the great sacred choral-orchestral repertoire in the setting of a worship environment.
The Memphis Masterworks Chorale is a non-auditioned chorus open to singers ages 15 and up. We welcome members from high school choirs, church choirs, and all those who enjoy singing in a choir.
This chorale is unique because of our short nine week commitment, the diversity of ages and backgrounds, and the opportunity to learn a piece of music in intense rehearsals to be performed with members of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. For those who need childcare, arrangements will be made on an individual basis with a nominal fee to cover expense.
How Do I Join?
Fill out the application on our website by October 1st. Singers with some experience singing in a choir at church or school are welcome to apply. A great choir includes all levels of expertise with a high level of commitment.
Rehearsals
Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm for two weeks in November, all of January and early February.
Costs
Those who are accepted will receive the music and a rehearsal CD at no cost. Our goal is support and enable those who want to sing: no fees are involved. Singers will be responsible for securing solid black concert attire.
Concerts
We will present one concert each year usually in early-mid February with orchestra and guest soloists.
Where?
All rehearsals and concerts are held at Second Presbyterian Church, 4055 Poplar Avenue in Memphis.
